Welcome to Gjuha Jonë; an Albanian Language school born from love for our children and our language.
My name is Alban Bytyqi, and I am the founder of Gjuha Jonë. I started this school with a simple but powerful goal: to give children growing up in the Chiswick and the surrounding areas a joyful, natural way to learn Albanian; our shared heritage.
As a father, I know how important it is for our children to feel connected to their Albanian heritage. When my son began showing curiosity about our culture, I realised how much more we could do to nurture this connection, not only at home, but as a community.
Professionally, I’ve spent over 10 years working in the education sector, and subsequently in the Human Resources environment. I bring experience in building programmes that help individuals grow; and now I want to use that experience to help our children grow and connect confidently with our language and heritage.
At Gjuha Jonë, we follow a Montessori-inspired, screen-free approach. This means hands-on materials, movement, storytelling, music, and lots of joyful interaction. We want every child to feel safe, proud, and excited to speak Albanian; whether it's their first word or their hundredth.
But this school is more than just lessons. It’s a space where Albanian families come together, share stories, pass on traditions, and build a living bridge between generations.
Our curriculum is shaped not just by educational principles, but by deep care for every child’s unique path and ability. That’s why we welcome parent voices from the start; your insight matters, your questions matter, and your hopes for your children matter.
I look forward to meeting you; and to building meaningful environment for our children together with you.
Respectfully yours,
Alban Bytyqi

Denisa is a wonderful and inspiring teacher with over six years of experience working with children across various educational settings; from vibrant nurseries to structured primary classrooms. She is a UK fully qualified Early Years Teacher and holds a postgraduate degree in teaching, giving her a deep understanding of how young children learn, grow, and thrive.
In Denisa’s classroom, learning Albanian becomes a joyful journey filled with creativity and discovery. She creates a playful, welcoming, and inclusive environment where children feel safe, encouraged, and excited to participate. Her lessons are rich in hands-on activities, blending engaging storytelling, traditional songs and dances, arts and crafts, and even simple Albanian cooking – all designed to bring the language and culture to life.
Having worked in both Montessori and mainstream schools, Denisa skilfully combines structured teaching with child-led exploration, allowing each student to build confidence and develop at their own pace. She also has a special talent for supporting children with additional needs, working closely with specialists to ensure every child is included, supported, and empowered. Denisa is a very passionate and dedicated Teacher, that desires to make positive impact to children's lives.
For your peace of mind, Denisa holds a Bachelors Degree in Nursing, has an up-to-date First Aid certificate as well as a completed full Child Safeguarding training. She has passed an enhanced DBS background check, as required for all staff too.
What truly motivates Denisa is her heartfelt commitment to the Albanian community. As she beautifully puts it:
“My goal is to help children learn or improve their Albanian and never forget their roots.”
When we asked Alketa to write her profile for our students and parents, she said "With a heart full of joy, I want to share with you that I am now part of the Albanian school "Gjuha Jonë" in Chiswick, where I will have the pleasure of being an assistant teacher. I will be helping our children learn, grow, and connect more with the Albanian language and culture."
My love for teaching began some time ago through valuable experiences as a teacher at "Afternoon School Cookery," where I learned how magical it is to see children learn through play and creativity. I have also offered 1-on-1 support in Maths and English, helping each child to feel secure and valued on their path to knowledge.
Now, excited for this new chapter, I am dedicated to bringing gentleness, care, and support to every step of the learning process. I believe that every child needs a hand to guide them with love.
I look forward to sharing this journey with our little ones.
For your peace of mind, Alketa holds a current Enhanced DBS certificate and is trained in First Aid.
We asked Alketa what she is most looking forward to at Gjuha Jonë, and she told us: "I look forward to sharing this journey with our little ones! I want them to feel proud and capable of speaking the Albanian language".
Monika is a warm, positive, and supportive presence in our classroom, dedicated to helping every child feel confident and happy as they connect with the Albanian language.
As our Assistant Teacher, Monika brings valuable hands-on experience from her time volunteering in schools. She has a natural talent for building a great relationship with children and a passion for helping them thrive. She believes in gently guiding students, and has a gift for supporting children who might be a little shy or are finding their feet with a new language.
Monika’s enthusiasm for Albanian culture is truly infectious! She believes that language comes to life through fun and creativity, and she is excited to fill our classroom with traditional Albanian songs, stories, dances, and even cultural items like the "qeleshe" to make learning an adventure. Her approach is all about creating a joyful and encouraging atmosphere where children are given choices, never compared to one another, and are always treated with respect and understanding.
For your peace of mind, Monika holds a current Enhanced DBS certificate and is trained in First Aid.
We asked Monika what she is most looking forward to at Gjuha Jonë, and she told us: "I'm so excited to contribute to our community and help create a fun, positive space where every child can connect with our beautiful Albanian language and culture!".
