We are seeking an enthusiastic Albanian Language Teacher to join Gjuha Jonë language school in Chiswick. This part-time position involves teaching Albanian to children using Montessori-inspired methodology in a screen-free environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about language education and cultural heritage, capable of delivering child-centered, hands-on lessons that make learning natural and engaging. As a key member of our team, you will help young learners develop confidence in speaking Albanian through a prepared environment that encourages self-directed discovery and cultural connection.
Deliver engaging Albanian language lessons following Montessori principles of child-led learning and sensorial experiences
Create a prepared environment with hands-on Albanian language materials that allow for self-discovery and independent practice
Develop practical life activities that incorporate Albanian cultural elements and language
Implement the three-period lesson technique for vocabulary acquisition and conversation building
Design progressive, sequential materials that build language skills from concrete to abstract concepts
Observe each child's progress and adapt materials to meet individual learning needs and sensitive periods
Foster an atmosphere of freedom within limits where children can explore the Albanian language at their own pace
Communicate effectively with parents about their children's progress and provide guidance for practice at home
Maintain a calm, ordered classroom that encourages concentration and independence
Collaborate with teaching assistants and school administration to ensure smooth and effective lesson delivery
Education: PGCE in Early Education or an equivalent teaching qualification (essential); Montessori certification or training (highly desirable)
Experience: Prior experience teaching languages to young learners, ideally using Montessori or other child-centered methodologies
Language Skills: Fluency in Albanian (essential) and proficiency in English (desirable)
Montessori Knowledge: Understanding of Montessori principles and their application to language acquisition (training can be provided for the right candidate)
Material Development: Ability to create and adapt self-correcting language materials specific to the Albanian language
Observation Skills: Excellent ability to observe children's needs and adapt instruction accordingly
Classroom Environment: Experience creating a prepared environment that encourages independence and language exploration
Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with both students and parents
Cultural Integration: Ability to weave Albanian cultural elements naturally into the language learning experience
Adaptability: Resourceful and adaptable in the classroom, respecting each child's individual learning journey
